latest guidance on competition racing until at least 1st Aug. Auld yins scheduled for 23rd Aug.....but, I can't see this happening really.
will the school give us the hall? they will have been back a week, it would need deep cleaned after if we did get it....? I think this is the deal breaker here
would cyclists come?
if we got a full field, 80 racers grouped on the road when some businesses still not able to fully open? how would the public view this?
how to run cars and socially distance? no showers, sign on outside?
I couldn't ask the older ivy members to get involved
I don't think this is viable so close to the relaxation of 1st August.
Any thoughts on this?

event ban still not lifted on 1st Aug, can't make contact with strip for position on access. sorry folks, too hard for the Auld yins this year
I agree with Paul it’s all too uncertain be better if it’s just cancelled and everyone knows where they stand. The school might not actually allow it to happen anyway with the prospect of having to deep clean afterwards and they may wish us to pay for that or part of it as well
On an aside, I sent you an email Paul about booking the clubhouse
Hi Paul - hope you and the family are keeping safe and well. From my personal point of view, I would say at this stage that it isn’t going to be viable. As you know, the schools are due to return on the 12th August, and when I listen to Claire talking about the lengths to which the schools are going to ensure social distancing at that point, I can’t imagine that restrictions will be lifted to the point that the race could happen. Especially with the HQ in a school. For me, the other point is about not disappointing the riders - I’d argue that it’s better to cancel now so that everyone knows what’s happening. We all know how disappointing it is to have a race you’ve entered cancelled last minute, even when the reasons are entirely legitimate. Anyway, that’s my tuppence-worth, but of course other people may well have different opinions...
A tough one Paul. Nobody knows what August will look like and your concerns are valid. If you were to cancel it now and restrictions were lifted to such an extent that the race would be viable, then you’d wonder what might have been, and on the other hand if you waited until nearer the time to cancel, you’d have to disappoint all those who had entered. I guess the feeling of the members is what matters, but I would hope all those in favour of continuing with the promotion of the race in August, offer themselves up to assist the organisation on the day.
